The monthly comp for July was interesting. The Deep Sea section was won by Jack Wilson with a total of 931pts – no bad for just one fish! He fished with Jack Cronin and landed a huge 100.5kg Southern Bluefin Tuna on the Saturday. Very impressive fish and Tuna is fish of the month for deep sea too. That will take some beating! The beach and rock section was won by the usual suspects Rob and Noah with a catch mostly consisting of Salmon and a couple of Tailor. Fish of the month for this section is Trevally – none weighed as yet. The estuary section was highly contested by both the adults and juniors with plenty of Bream weighed in along with a few good Flathead caught by the Booker’s. Jason Booker finished just ahead of Bruce Ray and Paul Cronin to take the win. His young fella Marc followed dad’s lead and took out the sub Juniors just ahead of Eddie, Tom and Lori. Bream is fish of the month in the estuary and I can tell you the competition is hot. Around 20 members have chucked in $5 each for a side bet – winner takes all. At the time of writing Tom Cronin has hit the lead with the largest one so far at 690gms. A big thanks goes out to our president Paul Cronin for organising the new polo shirts. If you missed out he may still have one or two left – not sure what sizes though.
